Michelle VanderMeer
Michelle works with emerging and established leaders to take their performance to the next level. She brings more than 20 years of leadership experience from the corporate world to her leadership development work. From practical experience, she can identify with and understand the unique challenges leaders face.
Building a career at recognized companies like M&M/Mars, Kellogg Company and Whirlpool Corporation, VanderMeer has made a name for herself as a creative problem-solver with strong intellect and an aptitude for engaging employees. Michelle never stops learning about herself, her team and how to best motivate others. “I really believe that people want to do good work and accomplish great things. If you go into any exchange with people assuming anything less, you’re going to disengage them.”
VanderMeer’s broad supply chain experience includes Procurement, Manufacturing, Distribution, Transportation, Customer Service and Production Planning. She has excellent negotiation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, and an ability to captivate an audience. Michelle genuinely enjoys connecting with leaders, helping them build awareness and skills to address operational needs and achieve strategic goals.
VanderMeer holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from College of Wooster and a Master’s in Business Administration from Loyola University Chicago. In her time away from the office, she enjoys spending time with her two children, attempting to improve her digital photography skills and searching for the perfect margarita recipe.
Michelle's Satisfied Clients
Michelle is, hands down, one of the best leaders and mentors I have met in my career.
Michelle consistently makes the most of organizational energy and potential, channeling the talent and energy of a team toward important strategic objectives, while leaving behind a culture that is better than she found.
What I appreciated about working with her was her ability to not only inspire our team toward a common goal, but also recognize, trust and leverage each team member’s contributive strengths to meet those goals. The end result was the most positive and effective outcome in four years!
Michelle is direct, honest, and respectful, and she used these skills to make my leadership coaching effective. She made me accountable to my plan and I believe I am still using the skills today she helped teach me. After our initial work, Michelle has kept in touch and remains supportive in my career.
I thank and commend Michelle VanderMeer for her patience, perseverance and guidance through our strategic planning process. Getting the Emmett Township Board of Trustees together and in agreement is sometimes a challenge. She did a great job of soliciting responses and making it “their strategic plan.” I was very comfortable working with Michelle, and I highly recommend her to work with any government organization. The ultimate compliment is the fact that I would have her back any time to help us with any project.
